MORE Home Valuation App

The Project

The MORE web app by Mutual of Omaha Mortgage was created to help homeowners and prospective buyers manage their mortgage needs. While the platform offered a range of valuable tools, users found the experience confusing and engagement began to drop. The challenge was clear: redesign the app to make property management and mortgage options more accessible, intuitive, and user-friendly.

My Role

For the MORE Home Valuation App redesign, I took the lead in creating the design, establishing both the visual direction and structural framework for the entire user experience.

Goals

  • Develop a unified, professional look and feel that reflects the Mutual of Omaha Mortgage brand throughout the application
  • Improve user engagement and satisfaction
  • Increase conversion rates for refinancing and purchase applications

Identifying the Problem

  • Poor Navigation: Users struggled to navigate between different tools and informational sections.
  • Complex Refinancing Options: Many users found it difficult to understand and compare refinancing choices.
  • Lack of Personalization: Data presentation felt generic and was not tailored to individual user needs.

Brainstorming & Ideation

  • Simplify navigation with clear access to key functions like rate comparison and home valuation
  • Enhance visual data presentation to support user decision-making
  • Introduce interactive tools such as a “What if” scenario feature for refinancing

Design Solutions

  • A centralized dashboard providing quick access to each user’s most relevant data
  • Clear, step-by-step guides for both refinancing and purchasing processes
  • Interactive charts showing property value changes over time
  • Dynamic calculators that update in real time based on user input for affordability checks
  • A card-based system to display sections like “Property Details” and “Loan Options” in an organized layout
  • Alternating layouts for cards and data sets to improve readability
  • Responsive design to ensure seamless use across all devices

Mobile

Ensuring an optimal experience on mobile devices was a core consideration throughout the MORE Home Valuation App redesign. I prioritized a responsive layout, making certain that every feature—from interactive charts to dynamic calculators—remained intuitive and accessible across smartphones and tablets. By adapting visual elements and streamlining navigation for smaller screens, the app provided users with a seamless experience whether at home or on the go.

  • Implemented mobile-responsive layouts for all screens and components
  • Streamlined navigation menus for simple access on smaller devices
  • Optimized interactive tools and calculators for touch input
  • Used card-based sections for organized presentation on mobile
  • Ensured readability with adaptable font sizes and spacing
  • Tested usability specifically on various mobile devices to refine the experience

User Testing

Usability testing focused on how easily users could find and use the app’s tools. Feedback highlighted the need to further clarify mortgage terms and available options, guiding additional refinements.

Development Collaboration

I worked closely with the development team throughout the process to guarantee that all UX/UI specifications were faithfully implemented, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience from design through deployment.

Results & Conclusion

The redesigned MORE app made complex mortgage information more approachable and empowered users to make decisions with confidence. Engagement increased, users had a deeper understanding of mortgage products, and business outcomes improved. This project reinforced the value of clear, user-centered design—especially in the financial services industry.
